Blessings, my fellow Lunatic Naked Apes! First, a quick disclaimer, then explanation of the term…

‘William Garrett’ IS, in fact, a ‘nom d’ plume’ and tribute to one of, if not my favorite fantasy literature character(s). I am writing these for my own enjoyment, etc, but, posting on a public medium (pun intended), prefer, as ‘just the messenger’, to maintain my anonymity. I apologize if this discomfits anyone, but there are plenty of other articles…

In my 57 or so times ‘round the block’, given considered assessment of our current state of ‘civilization’, based on about half of a psychology degree and years of ‘people watching’ in addition to personal experience, I’ve concluded that ALL of us are actually ‘insane’, the main difference between us being the manner and degree to which we individually choose to sublimate our own psychosis. Positive or otherwise, essentially, ‘lunatics’ all! Physiologically, we are essentially ‘hairless’ for the most part (many ‘hairless’ mammal classifications are not actually entirely ‘hairless’, simply minimized, like our own body hair for many ethnicities), but while less accurate, I feel ‘naked’ just kind of ‘rolls’ better. And, again ‘ape’ is not, strictly speaking, accurate, but works best with the rest of the term. It has been noted through many studies, sense of humor can be quite indicative of intelligence. Hence, two of my favorite philosophies: ‘If you can’t laugh at yourself, who (really) can you laugh at?’ and ‘if you can’t laugh at yourself, I’ll be happy to do it for you!’ Whatever else, just remember (again, said many ways): ‘don’t take Life too seriously — it’s not like you’re getting out of it alive’.

In my experience…

There is a God; He is, literally, everything & everywhere, and quite a bit more; He loves YOU specifically. I feel like He mostly just wants to have a relationship with each of us, just as any parent would; as you hopefully have/had with your physical parents, and/or kids if you’re a parent.

Now, before anyone goes off about ‘religion’, stop. That’s not what this is. What it is hopefully going to be, is simply a different way of looking at the ‘reality’ you’ve been experiencing all along! To start this path right, we must jump in our “way back machine” and go back to the basic science that I hope you had, but if not, is easily verifiable or even acquirable if desired. Just please understand, I use the term ‘God’, for the purpose of my composition, simply to refer to the Divine, largely due to my western Christian upbringing, and my current self-identification as a ‘non-denominational Christian’. I may also refer to (our ‘Ultimate’) Dad as ‘Great Spirit’ or ‘Grand Architect’ or any of a number other terms I enjoy… Now, let’s go to the opposite end of the scale…

Consider for a moment, the model of an atom. A central construct of protons and neutrons, orbited by one or more electrons. Or, as I might describe it, essentially a nucleus orbited by multiple bodies (particles). Ok, now put away your microscope and get out a telescope…

Take a look around the solar system. Now describe it in less than ten words. Interestingly, I come back to ‘a nucleus orbited by multiple bodies’. Maybe it’s the systems analyst in me, but I can help noticing that, while the level of complexity has changed greatly, appropriate for being several rungs up the ladder ‘physical reality’, it is, in fact, the exact same ‘system’ we considered at the atomic level!

Take a couple moments to consider that… Then buckle up…!!

Ok, now put away your telescope, and let’s use the ones we’ve built as a civilization. Perhaps the forthcoming James Webb or older Hubble spaceborne telescopes… Take a look at our galaxy, believe to be centered on a massive ‘black hole’, it’s ‘spiral arms’ each composed of countless stars and solar systems, all hurtling at different speeds, depending on proximity to the center, through space, circling the galactic center.

Now consider our examination of the relationship between atom and solar system. Again, from a galactic perspective, we have essentially a nucleus with multiple bodies orbiting it. The same EXACT system as the prior two, simply vastly more complex, being again, several rungs up the ladder ‘physical reality’.

Assuming our species survives itself long enough to attain the ability to apprehend the actual nature of the Universe, itself, I honestly believe that we are going to be looking at some vastly more complex evolution of ‘a nucleus with multiple bodies orbiting it’. Further, in my considered opinion, logic, which I once lived by on a tech level, would insist that the progression continues regardless of our ability to apprehend!

It’s hardly a new idea. In at least some, likely great, agreement with those who have gone before, of whom I actually honestly know little to nothing of beyond general readings, I do think that what we call our ‘universe’, logically, is likely also a single, if incredibly complex, cell of some vastly incomprehensible physical being, who’s existence, obviously, is almost beyond our ability to even apprehend, let alone comprehend…

A while back, while driving rideshare in SF, I had occasion to provide a ride to a young physicist. Over the course of the ride, we had occasion to discuss recent actual atomic level imaging that, as I understood, seemed to reveal that the models are, in fact, accurate enough, except that the orbiting electrons seem to be moving through a light viscous skin of some sort. Perhaps similar to how a pencil tip might lightly trace its way through a ‘veggie oil’ slick on top of a glass or bowl of water, assuming you have a steady enough hand to keep the tip in the oil but out of the water, and the artistic ability sufficient to draw a line (no, it doesn’t even have to be straight). Even if you don’t, it’s fun to try, and approached from the right quarter and ‘tude, can be quite calming. Except, of course, for accuracy’s sake, it somehow would also have to be a ‘ball’ of water… Quite an interesting conversation, all in all, as well as, if I understood even half of it right, quite educational!

Ok, again, away go the micro- and out come the tele- scopes. Like the atoms, our solar system has a ‘skin’, generated by the sun, that, while our planets don’t move through, surrounds and protects our little bubble of space from the effects of potentially devastating streams of energy that permeate the outer cosmos. This atomically ‘next level’, extremely more complex protective system/shell is called the heliosphere. Interestingly, on the side, newer research indicates that the shape may be variant from current accepted notions. Recently reading a Phys.org article and viewing the accompanying images of representations of new ideas about its nature and shape, I am struck by the apparent similarity, at least in basic shape, among other aspects, to an impregnated human uterus! Point being, I believe that ultimately, again this progression will continue, and, when we have the ability to, will discover that both our galaxy and universe have their own ‘skins’.

This is hardly definitive, or really all that new for that matter, but circumstantially, I feel, is quite ‘directive’ toward the idea that all of Life replicates itself at every level, and that the ‘level’ we are at is quite likely close to the ‘base’ of the ‘structure’ and most certainly of limited capacity to ‘see’ much. So, the implication of note, is that certain levels of complexity within our cosmos seem to be further defined physically, presumably in the pursuit of ‘life function’, the ongoing process’ of ALL Life, across all space, time & dimension. In my estimation, this makes it quite likely that our ‘universe’ may be and actually is, some sort of ‘next level’ complex cell of some incomprehensible physical being.

Switching gears a little… It has been proposed that when multiple people form a group, the group has its own ‘consciousness’ composed of, but separate from, the consciousness’ of each member of the group. It has also been established that the ‘group consciousness’ often exceeds ‘the sum of the whole’. As this phenomenon is automatic within our reality, that would strongly infer that every level of human cooperation has its own actual consciousness. Your town or city, state, country… even globally, we would have an overall ‘earth consciousness’ that is its own entity. If you expand that idea out to include the galaxy, with, potentially all of its life, and even the universe and beyond, I think we may at least be finding a path to the ‘Divine consciousness’!

Imagine, for a moment, that the electrons orbiting their nuclei in your own body were worlds, homing countless beings. Now imagine further that you had the capability of connecting individually with each one. Science is starting to recognize the essentially ‘autonomic’ communication between the brain and any given body cell, utilizing multiple base physiological systems, the gist of Dr’s Clum Your Wellness Tribe’s examination of this relationship, which is an interesting read, at the very least. For my purpose, it is enough that the reality of said communication is established.

Recall the degree of change in complexity from atom to solar system to galaxy and beyond…?

Assuming the actual existence of the being of which our universe is but a single cell and the corresponding increase in complexity, the idea that said Being might be able to ‘individually directly connect’ gains a fair amount of credibility.

‘Chance’ is simply a term we use to label phenomena we really just simply don’t understand; I have trouble looking at even just visual similarities in entirely separate, mostly incomparable ‘arenas’ without wondering what underlying connections may exist. Even Hollywood, in its quest to bring us new, engaging, stimulating ideas has at the least touched upon these ideas, most notably, in my opinion, with Men in Black’s ‘galaxy in a marble’ (the ‘locker community’ was great too!). Thus, I’ll wind up with a quote from ‘agent K’ to his prospective recruit: “1500 years ago, everybody “knew” that the earth was the center of the universe. 500 years ago, everybody “knew” that the earth was flat. And 15 minutes ago, you “knew” that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you’ll “know” tomorrow”!!

Think I’ll spend some time contemplating the stars… I imagine that I am looking into the ‘rest of the structure’ of ‘God’s cell… definitely makes for some interesting contemplations!!

Blessings on your Path, my siblings, all!!
